Originally a Yiddish theatre, then a movie house, Bill Graham opened the Fillmore East in this building on Second Avenue near 6th Street in the East Village in 1968 and closed it in 1971. It later became The Saint, a gay disco. The Emigrant Bank branch seen here occupies the theatre's old entrance lobby, the theatre inside was gutted and converted to apartments, Hudson East at 225 East 6th Street.
