Pottery Street, Llanelli Pottery Street in Llanelli was one of the streets built to house workers of Llanelli Pottery, which used to be at the bottom of the street. This street was originally funded by the workers themselves who formed a "building society". The members of the society would put all their savings into a kitty. When there was enough money to build a house, construction started. This would go on until the whole street was built and all members of the society were housed and the society was wound up. This is also how many of the building societies that we know today started.
