Panorama Armstrong, Beere and Hime je téměř kompletní panorama města Toronta pořízené v letech 1856–1857 firmou Armstrong, Beere and Hime. Jsou to nejstarší známé fotografie Toronta a vytvářejí téměř úplný záznam města v té době. Beletrizovaná historie fotografií a jejich příběhu hraje ústřední roli ve filmu Michaela Redhilla Consolation.

Historie

Snímky pořídila firma Armstrong, Beere and Hime na základě smlouvy s městem Toronto.

Znovu objeveny byly 9.

Armstrong, Beere and Hime was a photography firm in Toronto in the mid-19th century. The City of Toronto purchased a series of photographs from the firm in 1857 that the City included with its submission to the Colonial Office in London, U.K. in favour of Toronto's selection as the capital for the Province of Canada.

A number of panorama shots were included among these photographs by Armstrong Beere and Himes, taken from the roof of the Rossin House Hotel, which together provide an almost 360 degree view of the City of Toronto as it existed in 1856. The photographs were taken from different positions on the rooftop, so they do not form a continuous panorama. However, this image (a composite of 13 images, listed below) does provide a sense of the panoramic view from the top of the hotel in the mid-19th century.

The composite comprises:

At the right edge of the photograph, a building with a peaked roof line is visible - located on the northeast corner of Adelaide and Simcoe Streets, the building was known as the Bishop's Block. Built in 1829, the Block was reputed to be the first brick homes in the Town of York. Known as the Pretzel Bell Tavern from around 1972 to 1984, the block was dismantled in 2008 to be restored and incorporated into the Shangri-La hotel project.
