Mužská dvouhra Rio Open 2017 probíhala ve druhé polovině února 2017. Do singlové soutěže riodejaneirského tenisového turnaje nastoupilo třicet dva hráčů. Obhájcem titulu byl uruguayský tenista Pablo Cuevas, kterého v úvodním kole vyřadil Belgičan Arthur De Greef.
Vítězem se stal druhý nasazený Rakušan Dominic Thiem, jenž ve finále zdolal španělskou turnajovou čtyřku Pabla Carreña Bustu po dvousetovém průběhu 7–5 a 6–4. V probíhající sezóně si tak připsal premiérové turnajové vítězství, které představovalo osmý singlový titul na okruhu ATP Tour, z toho šestý antukový a třetí z Latinské Ameriky. Aktivní poměr vzájemných duelů proti Španělu navýšila světová osmička Thiem na 5–1.[1]
