Seznam hlav států v roce 1200
V seznamu hlav států v roce 1200 jsou uvedeni nejvyšší představitelé všech nezávislých států, kteří vládli v roce 1200. Seznam je seřazen abecedně podle světadílů. Jsou zde uvedeny nejvyšší hlavy států (prezidenti, králové, atd.) a předsedové vlád (pokud taková funkce existuje), případně i další významné státní funkce (typicky generální guvernér zastupující britskou královnu nebo faktické hlavy států, pokud se liší od nominálních hlav).
V seznamu je uvedeno i několik území se sporným mezinárodním postavením, která jsou de facto nezávislá, de iure jsou ale součástí některého jiného státu.

Reconstruction of Saladin's personal standard, using a double headed eagle. The specific design of double headed eagle is taken from a coin of a later Ayyubid Sultan, Al-Adil I.
Saladin, the Sultan of Egypt, carried a yellow banner emblazoned with an eagle, possibly inherited from the Zengid dynasty.[1] The Cairo Citadel has a carving of an eagle believed to depict Saladin's emblem, which is missing its heads. According to the Ottoman researcher Evilya Çelebi, it likely originally had two heads,[2] but the carving is commonly depicted with a single head, such as by the Egyptian government on stamps, and in the Lebanese book Saladin: The Story of the Conflict Between the East and West in the 12th and 13th Centuries.

The oldest known flag of Morocco, is shown in the Libro de Conoscimiento de Todos los Reynos (an online version is available here, see page 26). This flag is supposed to have been used by the rulers in Morocco in XI-XIIIth century. The flag is red with a 64-square chessboard placed in the middle of the flag. The upper left square of the chessboard is white.
