Shane T. McCoy (* 1974, Spojené státy americké) je americký operační fotograf[1] federální policie United States Marshals Service, kde začal pracovat v roce 2009.[2][3] Jeho fotografie byly publikovány ve stovkách publikací po celém světě.[4][5][6] McCoy je zodpovědný za pokrytí všech provozních aspektů vícemisionářské služby US Marshals Service a vyfotografoval tisíce zatčených lidí hledaných na základě federálních a místních zatykačů.[7][8][9]

Životopis

Před prací pro US Marshals strávil McCoy více než 15 let jako bojový fotograf pro americké námořnictvo.[10] Mezi jeho pozice v námořnictvu patřilo i to, že byl více než pět let fotoeditorem a hlavním fotoreportérem časopisu All Hands námořnictva, déle než jeden rok video editorem „All Hands Television“ a jeden rok ředitelem multimédií.[2] Během svého působení v námořnictvu ho jeho práce zavedla do 35 zemí a několika aktivních válečných zón.[2] McCoyova nejznámější série fotografií byla ta, kterou pořídil, když v roce 2002 první zadržovaní dorazili do X-Ray tábora v zálivu Guantánamo.[11][12][13][4][14][15]

Během práce pro námořnictvo, McCoy získal ocenění v každé kategorii soutěže „Vojenský fotograf roku“, včetně dvakrát druhého „Vojenského fotografa roku“,[16] třikrát vyhrál třetí místo a získal několik čestných uznání.

Shane T. McCoy was a Navy photographer, the only official photographer present on January 11, 2002, the day the camp was opened. On January 17, 2002, public affairs officers published a series of photos, including this photo, which had been taken for internal use only. Karen Geenberg referred to McCoy's photos on more than a dozen of the pages of her book the "Least Worst Place". Carol Rosenberg, interviewed McCoy, for the Miami Herald. He told her that SECDEF Donald Rumsfeld personally told him he did not hold McCoy responsible for the controversy the publication of the photos stirred.
