Třída Scimitar jsou hlídkové čluny britského královského námořnictva. Celkem byly postaveny dvě jednotky této třídy. Dne 30. března 2022 byly vyřazeny.[2]
Stavba
Postaveny byly dvě jednotky této třídy, pojmenované MV Grey Fox a MV Grey Wolf. Oba postavila britská loděnice VT Halmatic v Southamptonu.[1]
Konstrukce
Výzbroj tvoří jeden 7,62mm kulomet. Pohonný systém tvoří dva diesely MAN 2480LXE, pohánějící dva lodní šrouby. Nejvyšší rychlost dosahuje 30 uzlů.[1]
Služba
Čluny byly od roku 1993 využívány Royal Marines k potírání terorismu v Severním Irsku. Později byly převedeny k britskému královskému námořnictvu a přejmenovány na HMS Scimitar (P284, ex Grey Fox) a HMS Sabre (P285, ex Grey Wolf).

HMS Sabre, wearing the pennant number P285, is one of two permanently stationed sea-going units in Gibraltar which make up the Gibraltar Patrol Boat Squadron.
Principally operating to maintain the security and integrity of these Territorial Waters, HMS Sabre also contributes heavily to the support of Fleet and NATO assets in the area, provides support to Director Special Forces and offers general Search and Rescue assistance for the local area.

HMS DARING sailing into Gibraltar while HMS Scimitar from the Gibraltar Royal Naval Squadron provides security while she is within the British Gibraltar territorial waters.
The two Fast Patrol Boats of the Royal Navy's Gibraltar Squadron, HMS Sabre and HMS Scimitar, watch over Gibraltar's shores and support ships in the Strait of Gibraltar. The two boats, along with three Pacific Rigid Inflatable Boats, support British exercises and operations in the area.
HMS Daring, the first Type 45, is at the forefront of the Royal Navy’s next generation of Area Air Defence Destroyers. At 151 metres long, weighing 8000 tonnes and packed with the latest in Air Warfare technology, Daring is a world leader and world beater.
Her highly trained complement of 190 Sailors is trained to act across the full spectrum of military activity; including such missions as Disaster Relief in the wake of a typhoon, Maritime Security operations to counter the threat from piracy, and when required, high intensity war fighting against the nation’s enemies.

Pictured is HMS Sabre a Patrol Boat based in Gibraltar. The vessel was escorting Type 23 frigate HMS Monmouth into the Mediterraean port.
HMS Sabre together with sister ships HMS Scimitar form the core of the Royal Navy Gibraltar Squadron. The small team – the two Scimitar-class patrol boats, 19 personnel, and three Arctic 24 rigid-hulled inflatable boats – is one of only two permanently deployed sea-going units.
The only other is HMS Clyde on permanent station in the Falklands. The role of the boats and people of the Gibraltar Squadron is to safeguard Gibraltar’s shores, while contributing to joint operations.
In addition, the Gibraltar Squadron provides a maritime Quick Reaction Force to support ships in the local area, and keeps a watchful eye over shipping passing through the Strait of Gibraltar. The craft of the squadron are often busy supporting British and NATO exercises in the region, or indeed other nations’ maritime forces.
