Tituly a vyznamenání Jiřího VI.

Král Jiří VI. ve slavnostní uniformě dekorované řády a medailemi

Jiří VI. obdržel během svého života řadu vyznamenání a čestných jmenování, a to jak před nástupem na trůn, tak jako panovník Spojeného království, dominií a britského Commonwealthu.

Tituly

  • 14. prosince 1895 – 17. července 1917: Jeho Výsost princ Albert sasko-kobursko-gothajský, vévoda saský
  • 14. prosince 1895 – 28. května 1898: Jeho Výsost princ Albert z Yorku
  • 28. května 1898 – 22. ledna 1901: Jeho královská Výsost princ Albert z Yorku
  • 22. ledna 1901 – 9. listopadu 1901: Jeho královská Výsost princ Albert z Cornwallu a Yorku
  • 9. listopadu 1901 – 6. května 1910: Jeho královská Výsost princ Albert z Walesu
  • 6. května 1910 – 4. června 1920: Jeho královská Výsost princ Albert
  • 4. června 1920 – 11. prosince 1936: Jeho královská Výsost vévoda z Yorku, hrabě z Inverness a baron z Killarney
  • 11. prosince 1936 – 6. února 1952: Jeho Veličenstvo král
    • 11. prosince 1936 – 14. srpna 1947: Jeho císařské Veličenstvo král, indický císař[1]
  • 11. prosince 1936 – 6. února 1952: Lord of Mann

Jeho oficiální plný královský titul zněl Jeho Veličenstvo Jiří Šestý, z boží milosti, král Velké Británie, Irska a Britských dominií za mořem, obránce víry, indický císař (latinsky: Georgius VI, Dei Gratia Magnae Britanniae, Hiberniae et terrarum transmarinarum quae in ditione sunt Britannica Rex, Fidei Defensor, Indiae Imperator). Nejčastěji však byl oslovován jednoduše jako Král (The King) nebo Jeho Veličenstvo (His Majesty).

Byl držitelem i mnoha dalších titulů, které však nebyly součástí jeho oficiálního titulu. Například šlo o tituly: Vládce Nejvzenšenějšího podvazkového řádu, Vládce Nejstaršího a nejvznešenějšího Řádu bodláku, Vládce Nejslavnějšího Řádu svatého Patrika, Vládce Nejctihodnějšího Řádu lázně, Vládce Nejproslulejšího řádu svatého Michala a svatého Jiří, Vládce Nejznamenitějšího řádu britského impéria aj.

Its colours are defined as Pantone black, Pantone yellow 115, and Pantone red 032; also given as CMYK 0,0,0,100; 0,8.5,79,0; and 0,94,87,0.
Flag of Iran.svg
Flag of Iran. The tricolor flag was introduced in 1906, but after the Islamic Revolution of 1979 the Arabic words 'Allahu akbar' ('God is great'), written in the Kufic script of the Qur'an and repeated 22 times, were added to the red and green strips where they border the white central strip and in the middle is the emblem of Iran (which is a stylized Persian alphabet of the Arabic word Allah ("God")).
The official ISIRI standard (translation at FotW) gives two slightly different methods of construction for the flag: a compass-and-straightedge construction used for File:Flag of Iran (official).svg, and a "simplified" construction sheet with rational numbers used for this file.

Duke and Duchess of York, 1925 (13613767415).jpg
Autor: Archives New Zealand from New Zealand, Licence: CC BY-SA 2.0

These portraits of the Duke and Duchess of York were created in 1925, two years before they toured New Zealand together.

In February 1927 the Duke and Duchess of York arrived in Auckland aboard the 'HMS Renown' for a month-long tour of New Zealand. At the time the Duke, Prince Albert, was second in line to the British throne after his brother Prince Edward. Edward abdicated after his accession in 1936 however. Prince Albert then ascended to the throne, and adopted the regnal name George VI. The Duke and Duchess of York were the parents of the present queen, Elizabeth II, who was less than a year old at the time of the tour. During the 1927 tour the Duke and Duchess travelled extensively throughout the country, although after the Duke was obliged to continue the tour alone after Duchess fell ill with tonsillitis in Nelson.

These portraits come from the ‘WHAT’ series of records held at Archives NZ, which contains records of uncertain provenance.

These records are being presented by Archives New Zealand across our Twitter, Flickr and Youtube pages to coincide with the Royal Visit of 2014. Throughout the tour we will be showcasing records relating to previous Royal tours, dating back to early as 1869.
