William Rider-Rider (1889, Stamford Hill – 1979) byl britský válečný fotograf.[1]
Život a dílo
V období od června roku 1917 do prosince 1918 pracoval pro kancelář Canadian War Records Office. Dokumentoval kanadské vojáky v první světové válce.

Canadians entering the Square in Cambrai, [France], three sides of it on fire. Advance East of Arras. October, 1918. he retreating Germans set fire to the town, but the rapid occupation allowed much of the city to be saved from the flames.
German mortars captured during the Canal du Nord operation. One of the mortars has been marked by the 4th Battalion, which captured it on 27 September. Units typically chalked captured guns, mortars, and machine-guns as signs of their prowess and victories. The mortar in the foreground with the soldier is a 7.58 cm Minenwerfer; the mortar in the background (chalked 4th Battalion) is a 17 cm Minenwerfer 1913 short model.
Canadian troops in the vicinity of Arras, along Arras-Cambrai road in September, 1918. Description at National Archives Canada says: "Canadian troops take cover in a ditch alongside the road from Arras to Cambrai. They faced a series of well-protected enemy defences whose efficiency was enhanced by the region’s topographical features. On their left ran the Scarpe River." In the background a Renault FT light tank can be seen.
