69.002 Not For The Squeamish! (3906390282)
Yesterday I noticed the Eyed Hawk-moth larvae on our apple tree have been parasitised by some sort of wasp (I think) which lays it's eggs on or under the skin of the caterpillar. The wasp larvae then feed inside until reaching maturity when they burst through the skin (unfortunately I missed the best bit!) and pupate. THE CATERPILLAR IS STILL ALIVE AT THIS STAGE!
This morning all the pupae had dropped off but were in the leaf below, so I shall be able to keep them to see what emerges, possibly not until next year.Relevantní obrázky
