Haustorium is a special parasitic organ of the European mistletoe (Viscum album subsp. album L.) semi-parasitic lifestyle, which connects its conductive tissues with the host xylem or phloem to get water and nutrients. In Eastern Europe, and in Ukraine in particular, there are 3 subspecies of semi-parasitic plant Viscum album L., which parasitizes different hosts: V. album subsp. album L. affecting more than 450 species of deciduous trees, V. album subsp. austriacum (Wiesb.) Vollm. "specializing" on pines and sometimes choosing larch and spruce, and V. album subsp. abietis (Wiesb.) Janch.) parasitizing firs.
