A German official stands next to an unexploded, British Upkeep bouncing bomb. The weapon was recovered from the wreckage of Avro Lancaster ED927/G 'AJ-E', piloted by Flt Lt Barlow. The aircraft crashed at 2350 hours on 16 May 1943 after striking power lines 5km east of Rees, Germany. All on board were killed.

Za operaci Chastise se označuje útok na německé přehrady Möhne, Eder a Sorpe provedený v noci z 16. na 17. května 1943 617. perutí RAF za použití rotačních tzv. skákajících bomb, které zkonstruoval Barnes Wallis. Přehrady Möhne a Edersee byly narušeny, což způsobilo katastrofické záplavy, přehrada Sorpe utrpěla pouze menší škody.
