Image provides an artist's impression of a putative flag for the Shire. Unfortunately, Tolkien does not give any indication that the Shire hobbits ever used a flag, nor that it was green, nor that it carried a white feather. Presumably the image is a fan guess that the Shirriffs' distinguishing mark might have formed a badge for the whole Shire, but there is no suggestion that this is correct. Against it is the fact that officialdom was only minimally tolerated in the Shire, rather than celebrated, so their mark forms a most unlikely symbol for a flag, even if one was supposed to be used, which is also a pure guess.
