A German Hannover CL IIIa plane (s/n 3892/18) brought down in the Argonne by American machine gunners, between Montfaucon and Cierges, France, on 4 October 1918.
The original caption states that the plane is "showing Red Cross painted on wings and fuselage of planes". This is, of course, totally nonsense (probably war propaganda), since the crosses were black with white oulines, being the 1918 German national emblem.
