Hog Plum (Ximenia americana) (5894442866)
Ximenia americana (Tallowwood, Hog Plum) flowers just opening at Juno Dunes. Walking along a rain drenched path the most amazing fragrance engulfed me!. It was magical and unexpected. I searched the scrub and discovered it originated from a few tiny yellow-green fuzzy flowers. Surprisingly, it was my old friend the Hog Plum! I don't know how I'd missed the scent in previous years, perhaps I thought it was Palmetto blooming. (The orange "cable" running through the frame is a parasitic Dodder vine, Cuscuta exaltata. The Hog Plum itself is semi-parasitic.)
If weather permits, I'll go back next week and visit these again, just sitting with them and basking in the fragrance while they are still blooming :-)- Uploaded by Jacopo Werther
