Wing Commander Billy Drake in May-June 1943. The United States Distinguished Flying Cross awarded to him can be partly seen, pinned to Drake's chest in the lower right corner of the picture.

Billy Drake DSO, DFC & Bar byl britské letecké eso. V době druhé světové války dosáhl jako stíhací pilot Royal Air Force dvaceti jistých a šesti pravděpodobných sestřelů nepřátelských letounů, a devět poškodil. Létal ve strojích Hawker Hurricane, Supermarine Spitfire a Curtiss P-40 u perutí operujících ve Francii, Anglii, západní a severní Africe a z Malty.
