SOUTH CHINA SEA (October 6, 2000) -- The Japanese ship Chiyoda (ARS 405) at sea during "Exercise Pacific Reach 2000." Pacific Reach is the first multi-national submarine rescue exercise held in the Pacific region and includes 600 personnel, four submarines, four surface support ships and other submarine rescue systems from the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force, the Republic of Korea Navy, the U.S. Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy.
