After 1900 a special banner for the crown prince, titled Markgraf von Meissen [margrave of Meissen], was issued, showing a black lion (for the palatinate of Meissen) among four royal crowns in the corners. Other princes used only the lion.

Míšeňsko je historické území v Sasku, na kterém se mezi lety 965–1423 nacházelo Míšeňské markrabství. Název pochází od hradu Míšeň, který založil roku 928 Jindřich I. Ptáčník na obranu proti Srbům. Roku 1423 udělil císař Zikmund zdejšímu vládci Fridrichu IV. Bojovnému část Saska a kurfiřtský hlas, čímž se tyto územní celky spojily a pojem Míšeňska postupně vymizel.
