en:Mare Nectaris is located within the Nectaris basin on the lunar nearside. The basin material is of the Nectarian and Lower Imbrian epochs, with the mare material of the Upper Imbrian epoch. The crater Theophilus, on the northwestern side of the mare is of the Eratosthenian epoch. Thus, the crater is younger than the mare to its southeast. Montes Pyrenaeus borders the mare to the west. The crater Fracastorius can be seen at the bottom of the photo. The mare material is approximately 1000 m in thickness. Enough subsidence has occurred to open a few arcuate grabben on the western margin of the mare. The crater in the lower center of the mare is Rosse.

Mare NectarisMare Nectaris je malé měsíční moře přibližně kruhového tvaru s průměrem kolem 350 km a rozlohou cca 101 000 km² rozkládající se na přivrácené straně Měsíce, západně od Mare Fecunditatis a jižně od Mare Tranquillitatis. Na jeho severním okraji vyniká dvojice kráterů Capella a Isidorus. O něco jižněji leží nevýrazná kráterová deprese Daguerre. Na jihu přechází Mare Nectaris do rozlehlé valové roviny Fracastorius. Měsíční pohoří Montes Pyrenaeus (Pyreneje) ohraničuje moře ze západu, na této straně se nachází rovněž kráter Bohnenberger. .. pokračovat ve čtení
