The U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Orion Crew Module descends to the Pacific Ocean under its three main parachutes as part of the Orion Program's first exploration flight test. The splashdown was circa 965 km south-west of San Diego, California (USA).
The U.S. Navy amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD-23) was supporting the first exploration test flight for the NASA Orion Program and recovered the crew module. EFT-1 was the fifth at sea testing of the Orion Crew Module using a Navy well deck recovery method.
