Panama-Pacific International Exposition San Francisco 1915 Hand-Colored (22706821964)
From 20 February to 4 December San Francisco hosted the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The fair celebrated the completion of the Panama Canal, but also the city itself. Only a decade earlier San Francisco had been devastated by earthquakes and fire.
The images above come from an album of hand-coloured photographs officially published for the fair. The album comes from a collection of photographs and papers collected by Leslie Hinge (1868-1942), and donated by his daughter Ruby Keen. The two had travelled to San Francisco and attended the Panama-Pacific International Exposition.
