Paragliding je letecký sport podléhající zákonům o civilním letectví. K plachtění vzduchem se používá paraglidingové křídlo – padákový kluzák, který spadá do kategorie sportovních létajících zařízení pod správou Letecké amatérské asociace ČR. Startuje se z kopce rozběhem, nebo z roviny pomocí vlečného zařízení. Zkušený pilot může plachtit díky využití stoupavých vzdušných proudů.
