This is an artistic illustration of the giant planet HR 8799 b. The planet was first discovered in 2007 at the Gemini North observatory. It was identified in Hubble NICMOS archival data in a follow-up search to see if Hubble had also serendipitously imaged it. The planet is young and hot, at a temperature of 1,500 °F (820 °C). It is slightly larger than Jupiter and may be at least seven times more massive (~7 M_J). Analysis of the NICMOS data suggests the planet has water vapor in its atmosphere and is only partially cloud covered. It is not known if the planet has rings or moons, but circumplanetary debris is common among the outer planets of our solar system.

HR 8799 b je exoplaneta v souhvězdí Pegase, která obíhá HR 8799, hvězdu typu lambda Boötis vzdálenou přibližně 129 světelných roků od Země. Její hmotnost činí 4 až 7 hmotností Jupiteru při poloměru o 10–30 % větším, než má tento plynný obr. Planeta obíhá na orbitě ve vzdálenosti 68 AU, respektive 7 AU uvnitř od vnitřní hrany prachového disku hvězdy, s neznámou výstředností a periodicitou 460 roků, jako nejvzdálenější dosud známá planeta systému HR 8799. Objevena byla americko-kanadským kolektivem Christiana Maroise 13. listopadu 2008 spolu s dalšími dvěma planetami tohoto systému z havajských observatoří Kecka a Gemini.
