BAY OF BISCAY, 1943-07-30. TWO GERMAN SUBMARINES TAKING EVASIVE ACTION DURING AN ATTACK. THE TYPE XIV SUBMARINE TANKERS, U-461 AND U-462, ARE BEING ATTACKED BY SUNDERLAND "U" OF NO. 461 SQUADRON RAAF, HALIFAX "B" OF NO. 502 SQUADRON RAF AND LIBERATOR "O" OF NO. 53 SQUADRON RAF. THESE TWO U-BOATS WERE SUNK IN THIS ACTION, ALONG WITH U-502. THE PHOTOGRAPH WAS TAKEN FROM SUNDERLAND "U"

Typ XIV byly zásobovací ponorky německé Kriegsmarine z období druhé světové války. Byly známy pod přezdívkou dojné krávy. Celkem bylo dokončeno 10 ponorek této třídy. Stavba dalších 14 jednotek byla zrušena. Ponorky byly ve službě v letech 1941–1943. Německé zásobovací ponorky byly terčem intenzívního vyhledávání a útoku spojeneckých námořních a leteckých sil, přičemž se je všechny podařilo potopit.
