27.09.12 Zaječar 710.010 & 710.001 (10101108023)
Balkans Rail Trip, Autumn 2013 - Day Five
Early morning view at Zaječar station on 27 September 2013. Seen here are two out of the three trains timetabled to leave between 06:30 and 06:45. To the left 710.010 is first to leave on train 2770, 06:30 Zaječar to Prahovo Pristanište. To the right is 710.001 on train 2701, 04:00 Prahovo Pristanište to Niš booked to leave at 06:35. There was supposed to be a third train, 2750 06:45 Zaječar to Majdanpek which I was planning to take. However this train was cancelled and although I wasn't unable to understand the reason given due to the language difference, I assumed it was due to no railcar being available.
Zaječar is the last "stronghold" for these ex-SJ single cars built in 1979 and 10 were purchased by Serbian Railways during the early 2000s. However it appears reliability is poor, internally they are in a much worse condition than they were before leaving Sweden!
As a result of learning the news at 06:32, I quickly jumped on train 2701 and travelled to Niš. This meant I missed out on best part of 100 kms of line with no opportunity to cover it that day.Relevantní obrázky
