IWM caption : The shell room of the destroyer HMS VANITY whilst she is on escort duty. A sailor is about to place a shell into the hoist.

Comment : This shows fixed rounds for QF 4 inch Mk XVI gun. Vanity had the WAIR anti-aircraft conversion completed in June 1940, which included replacement of QF 4-inch Mk V guns by QF 4-inch Mk XVI guns.

Třída V a W byla třída torpédoborců Royal Navy z období první světové války. Třída se dělí do čtyř menších podtříd. Celkem bylo postaveno 67 torpédoborců, přičemž stavba dalších 40 jednotek byla zrušena. Ve službě byly v letech 1918–1948.
