U.S. and Danish sailors watch as a crane lifts Mark 52 mines to the deck of the HDMS Falster (N 80) at Naval Station Mayport, Fla., on March 21, 1996. The Danish ship is joining ships, submarines and aircraft from seven NATO nations to participate in Exercise Unified Spirit '96. The combined exercise is designed to improve the readiness and effectiveness of NATO forces in the areas of command communication, embargo enforcement, freedom of navigation and protection and coordination with mine warfare forces.
