A U.S. Navy Grumman F-14A Tomcat from Fighter Squadron 32 (VF-32) Swordsmen, foreground, flies formation with a Royal Air Force McDonnell Douglas Phantom FGR.2 of 19(F) Squadron prior to practice dogfighting Operation "Desert Shield" in December 1990. VF-32 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 3 (CVW-3) aboard the the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean from 15 August 1990 to 28 March 1991. The Phantom was home based at RAF Wildenrath, Germany, but flying out of RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus.
