The "Black Flag of Fascism" (Italian: Il drappo nero del fascismo or Il drappo nero fascista) in a variant as used by the Italian fascist state party, the Partito Nazionale Fascista (PNF), as a party flag from around 1938 to 1943 and hoisted in public together with the Italian tricolor. The "Black Flag of Fascism" had been in use in Fascist Italy since the 1920s at the latest, whereby the sizes and colors of the lictor bundles (fascio littorio) depicted on the black cloth varied greatly, and different versions of the flag were also used in parallel. Unlike the swastika in the party flag of the German NSDAP, the style of the lictor bundle was never standardized in Italian fascism.
