Siege of Warsaw by German forces in September of 1939. Interior view of the destroyed Catholic Hospital of the Transfiguration in Praga district, one of Warsaw's largest hospitals. The hospital "was already filled with wounded when the bombs came. Nurses carried some patients downstairs, others crawled on hand and knees to the stairways." [1]
