The U.S. submarine rescue vehicle mated with the Russian submarine SSK Alrosa (SSK 554), the first time a Russian submarine mated with a U.S. submarine rescue system. Participants and observers from more than 25 countries are taking part in the 12-day NATO exercise, which is the world's largest submarine rescue exercise.
