Finsko, oficiálně Finská republika, je severský stát v severní Evropě. Na severozápadě sousedí se Švédskem, na severu s Norskem a na východě s Ruskem, na západě s Botnickým zálivem a na jihu s Finským zálivem oproti Estonsku. Většinu krajiny tvoří rovinatá tajga a v ní více než 180 000 jezer a charakteristické nízké kopce; podnebí se pohybuje od vlhkého kontinentálního na jihu po boreální na severu. Finsko se dělí na 19 provincií, na ploše 338 000 km² žije 5,6 mil. obyvatel; je osmou největší zemí v Evropě a nejřidčeji osídlenou zemí v Evropské unii. Její hlavní a největší město jsou Helsinky, mezi další významná města patří Espoo, Tampere a Vantaa. Převážnou většinu obyvatelstva tvoří etničtí Finové. Laponsko na severu země je tradiční místo života Sámů.
